“We are proud and excited to be a part of the continuing development in Asian cycling,” said Scott Kaylin, Co-Founder of Champion System.
“Being a co-title sponsor of these two teams showcases our commitment to these athletes, the sport in Asia and its long term growth.”
The official team launch was held in Chenggong, Kunming, where the 32 top Chinese riders were introduced.
The establishment and further development of these teams mark a milestone in the history of professional cycling in
China and Champion System is proud to continue its support and involvement of the development of cycling in Asia.
“Our dedication and enthusiasm for cycling in Asia has only grown over the years. The talent and work ethic of these young
riders, along with their passion for cycling, is something special for us as a company to support and be a part of,” Kaylin added.
With the strength and depth of the riders joining the 2014 teams, the teams have raised the bar in terms of expectations of the
riders and goals. On the men’s team, Liu Hao (Jilin province) is the champion of the allround cycling competition at the 2013
China National Games as well as the stage winner of 2013 Tour of Korea. In women’s team, Jamie Wong Wan-yiu (Hong Kong)
is currently first in the world standings of UCI Track Point Race.
China’s Giant Pro Cycling Women’s Team was officially established in 2006 with the main goal of contending at the games.
The team successfully nurtured 4 riders that were recruited into the national team to compete in Beijing. In honor of the Chongming government, \
Giant Pro Cycling Team was renamed as Chongming-Giant Pro Cycling Team in 2011.
Building on the success of professional women cycling, China founded its first men’s pro team in 2009, called Max Success Sports Pro Cycling,
which was the predecessor of Giant-Champion System Pro Cycling. With over a hundred professional races during the 7 years, including
2 Olympic Games, 3 Asian Games, 2 National Games, annual track and road World Championships, World Cups, National Championships,
and long lists of other domestic and international professional races, riders at Max Success Sports Pro Cycling and
Chongming-Giant Women's Team have been selected into the National Team over a hundred times.
Following the team launch in Kunming, the Giant-Champion System Pro Cycling Team wrapped up its training camp and raced the Le Tour de Langkawi.
The teams will announce their 2014 full schedules shortly. More information on the team can be found at chinaprocycling.com
Champion System Partners with Cosaveli for the 2014 Trois Etapes
The Trois Etapes, the world’s only Pro-Am Cycle Series, will be raced in Champion System technical apparel in 2014. Champion System, a
worldwide leader in custom technical apparel, has partnered up with event organisers Cosaveli to create unique custom apparel for the series.
As the Trois Etapes ventures into the most fashion-conscious country in the world with the launch of the Trois Etapes Giro in Italy this year,
Champion System is set to produce the event’s most stylish kits ever, for the largest number of charity teams and riders to date.
Champion System, the worldwide leader in custom technical apparel, also produces apparel for Italy’s World Tour team Lampre–Merida.
In just two years, the Trois Etapes Tour has seen an incredible $4.5 million raised for 11 charity partners, and with the inaugural Giro now
added to the Pro-Am Cycle Series, Cosaveli are looking to raise an even greater amount for charitable causes.
Taking place on 6 – 9 June 2014, the Trois Etapes Giro will travel through the scenic Dolomites and encounter the iconic summits of
Passo Pordoi, Passo Giau, Passo Falzarengo, Passo Campalongo, Passo San Pellegrino and the Passo Fedaia.
Now in its third year, the Trois Etapes Tour takes place on 7 – 10 August 2014 and will follow the route of its professional counterpart
taking on three hors catégorie climbs. 15 teams of eight riders, each including one professional, will be introduced to the Pyrenees via the Col
d'Aubisque on Stage 1, ascend the Col du Tourmalet and Hautacam - which replicates Stage 18 of the Tour de France on Stage 2,
and summit the Col du Soulor on the final day.
The events are designed to give riders the chance to truly experience team cycling under race conditions, with the full support that a pro
would have in a Grand Tour. The event incentivizes tactical team riding - each team has its own team car and Directeur Sportif, and
every rider has a radio link with their team car and the Race Director. With Champion System now on board, the Trois Etapes riders’ race experience
will be enhanced further still.
“I am very excited at this new relationship for Champion System. As we truly expand our global footprint, partnering with a high level, socially
conscious organisation like Cosaveli and supporting the Trois Etapes 2014 clearly illustrates our desire and commitment to continue
being the world’s top custom technical apparel company. We look forward to having a long and mutually fruitful partnership,”
Scott Kaylin,Co-Founder and President, Champion System said.
“2014 is Cosaveli’s biggest year yet with two Trois Etapes events now in the calendar, so it’s only fitting for us to team up with such an esteemed
clothing partner as Champion System,”
Niels Bryan-Low, CEO of organisers Cosaveli, said.
“I’m very excited to be working with the team at Champion System and really look forward to seeing their kits adorning our riders on the great
mountains of the Trois Etapes Giro and Trois Etapes Tour,” added Bryan-Low.
